Had a bit of a frustrating morning at Minster today. I was supposed to be meeting Grawp (Ed) at the beach for 6am - but I was woken at 6.05am by a call from him saying "where are you??". I'd set my alarm for 6pm rather than 6am by mistake So jumped out of bed, loaded the van and got to Minster in record time. I was there and rigging by 6.45am. Ed was already on the water and screaming around fully powered up on a 7.5 and his SX. I started to rig my newly repaired 7.0m, when Ed spotted that ANOTHER batten was broken which I hadn't previously noticed!! How bloody annoying - having just had two battens repaired, I'd missed a third one! So I rigged the 5.8 instead, which I knew wasn't really going to be enough. I did get planing a few times - once very nicely powered actually and really screaming along. But generally I spend much more time plodding, and doing super light wind waterstarts. I sailed for about an hour and a half before the wind looked like it was dying completely and I gave up. Headed off for a greasy breakfast instead!

Minster was actually looking lovely this morning with the sun glittering on the sea and lovely flat water. Really nice to be out! Some quite cute looking girls turned up at around 9am to spectate, and Ed went for a final spin just to show them what he could do.... at which point the wind died completely and he ended up bogging back two shore miles down wind!! Sorry Ed - just had to mention it! Glad I got out anyway, even if it was a bit frustrating.

I'm also the proud owner of a 4.2 Voodoo, having done a little exchange with Ed. That'll go nicely with my newly acquired K-bay 85l wave board.... Bet I don't get to use them now until Autumn!!
